I LOVE Friday mornings! It is my one chance in the week to have the house all to myself! Once the my son is safely off at JK I hurry my daughter over to her preschool program and then I'm FREE for 1 1/2 hours!
So this morning after having a HOT cup of coffee I decided to neglect all of my housework and come down and play a little. I saw a card on Pinterest last night that inspired this Clean and Simple (CAS) card.
Isn't it pretty?! I went a little out of my comfort zone with the colours and pulled out two Regals; Elegant Egglplant and Rose Red. I love how using my Simply Scored tool I can create a quick and simple frame around the image.
Here's what you'll need to make this card:
Stamps: Petite Petals (Occasions 2014 catalogue), Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fabulous Florets
Ink and Paper: Elegant Egglplant, Rose Red, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Other: Simply Scored tool, Stampin' Dimensionals.
Happy Stamping!

Refreshing Colours for CAS Challenge
Have I mentioned how thrilled I am about Stampin' Up's "Colour Refresh"?! I am so excited that some colours are staying (Pool Party, Island Indigo...yay!) and that some are coming back! About this time last year I fell in love with "Blushing Bride" while making my daughter's birth announcements. I was sad to see it go last year to make way for new In Colours but it's coming back along with Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, and Crushed Curry! Yay!!!
So, in celebration, I used "Blushing Bride" and "Pear Pizzazz" in one of my cards for my Mother's Day Make and Take tomorrow evening. For sketch inspiration I turned to CAS - Colours and Sketches Challenge. Here is this week's sketch:
Here is my card:
Pretty, eh? I love the softness of the Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake card stocks together. I also used Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight. I finally got my hands on some Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon and really wanted to use it here. While it's hard to see here, I also used some Basic Pearls on either side of the sentiment.
I'm looking forward to seeing what my guests do with this card tomorrow evening!

Fun with a friend (PP99)
I had the opportunity to visit (and create) with a dear friend today. Even though we hadn't seen each other in 3 years we were able to pick up right where we left off. Don't you just love friendships like that?! She suggested that we both create cards using the same stamp sets and colour scheme and see what we each could come up with. So I headed onto The Paper Players website for some colour inspiration and pulled out my "Fabulous Florets" and "Friendly Phrases" stamp sets.
It was so great to sit and "play" with my stuff for once (you should have seen the mess we made on the floor of my office!). I feel like I'm always creating on a deadline and I never want to waste my supplies to I very rarely just play around. We reminisced about our high school days and chatted about our kids.....it was such a nice way to spend a morning. To top it all off, my son played nicely by himself (a rarity) and my daughter napped for 2 hours!
Here's what I came up with:
I had been wanting to use the Lattice Die and my Labels collection Framelits more extensively so I took this opportunity to do just that.
And here is her creation:
Personally, I like my friend's card better than my own. She's always been much more artistic than me and I think it shows here. I love her use of water colouring. She stamped her images in Basic Gray first and then used Blender Pens to add colour. So pretty!
Here are the details of the supplies we used:
Stamp Sets: Fabulous Florets, Friendly Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade
Ink: Basic Gray, Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade
Big Shots Accessories: Lattice Bigz Die, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder (Laura's card), Snowburst Textured Embossing Folder (EH's card), Labels Collection Framelits Die (Laura's Card)
So, thanks, EH for spending the morning with me.....I loved every moment. Everyone needs a friend like you!

Happy Birthday
Wow! Where has the week gone. I feel like I've been in a bit of a fog lately and just haven't been able to motivate myself to do any stamping. I finally got back to it this afternoon to create a birthday card for one of 2 important women in my life who have birthdays today. My mother was the recipient of a card that I hand delivered to her last weekend. It's a good thing that I've been seeing a lot of family lately because a lot of them have birthday's this week and wouldn't have gotten anything otherwise....thanks Canada Post for striking right when I need to send a lot of mail : /
I've decided to enter this card in this week's Monkey Challenge 61 over at A La Card Monkey. This week's challenge was to create a "girly" card and while this may not be the "girliest" it's recipient is a strong woman of faith and character. She has endured a lot in her 87 years but maintains her happy outlook on life and keeps her faith front and centre. She is my husband's grandmother. She has been a HUGE influence on my husband's life and now is becoming one in my son's too. It's so special to see the relationship that is developing between greatgrandmother and greatgrandson. He especially loves it when she sings to him!
Happy Birthday Grandma!
I have to admit that the colour combo comes from a challenge from last week (maybe from The Paper Players?) and the layout comes from both Stamping 411 and A La Card Monkey...but I've been so out of it that I missed the first two challenges : ) Oh well...I'm pleased with the result and I think she'll like it. The colour combo is Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi. I used the "Fabulous Florets" and "Messages for Mom" stamp sets for this one and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.
My peonies were beautiful about a week and a half ago and so when I saw the colour challenge I wanted to do something to reflect them. So I started off by colouring my stamp with Melon Mambo for the outer petals and Daffodil Delight for the centre of the flowers (and that's as far as got that week). For the leaves I stamped first in VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with Wild Wasabi embossing powder. For background paper is used some from the Beyond the Garden DSP (so happy that this is being carried through into next year's catalogue!).
I punched out the sentiment with the Modern Label punch and then added a matte first by punching out some Melon Mambo card stock with the Decorative Label punch, then cutting that in half and trimming the corners.
Finally, I used various butterflies in Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi to finish the card. Stayed tuned for more birthday cards this week : )
Oh yes, here's the sketch for this week's Monkey Challenge. Check out A La Card Monkey to see what others did.
