Everyday Enchantment for SSC 239

I really liked the sketch that the ladies over at Stamping 411 put out this week.  Be sure to head over there and see what the design team and others have come up with.

I waffled back and forth trying to decide what to do for it and finally decided to go with a monochromatic look.  I wouldn't really say it's my "style" but I'm happy with the result.  What do you think?

Everyday Enchantment Thanks for SSC 239
The colour scheme is Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla.  I used, again, almost exclusively Sale-a-bration product with the exception of the scallop punch, pearls and sentiment.

It's actually a relatively simple card...the bow took me the longest to make it look right.  To learn how to make a bow like this head over to Stamping 411 and look through the tutorials along the side bar....very helpful!

Here are all the details:

Stamp Sets:  Fresh Vintage (SAB 2012), Thank You Kindly

Inks and Paper:  Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB 2012), Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla

Accessories and Embellishments:  Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folders (SAB 2012), 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch, Basic Pearls, Calypso Coral organza ribbon (SAB 2012).

Happy Stamping!

Fresh Vintage for TSOT 50

Time for some more Sale-a-bration product!!!!  I'm so excited that it's finally here...I love getting FREE stuff (if you haven't heard about Sale-a-bration, be sure to check out my Stampin' Up website, http://lauragardiner.stampinup.net).  For tonight's post, I consulted the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch for this week.  Here's what I came up with using, almost exclusively, Sale-a-bration product:

The colour scheme is quite simple: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, and Very Vanilla with a touch of Poppy Parade.  I was drawn again this evening towards the Everyday Enchantment DSP and Fresh Vintage stamp set...both of which are in the current Sale-a-bration catalogue.  To frame the image I used the Designer Frames Textured Embossing folders (also available for free with a $60 purchase).  I stamped the image first on Very Vanilla Card Stock, ran it through the Big Shot in the rectangular frame and then hand cut it out.  The Lucky Limeade frame also had to be hand cut.

The Pool Party strip was embossed in the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder and then I sponged it lightly with Soft Suede ink.

Stayed tuned for more projects using Sale-a-bration products!  Happy Stamping!!!!

Sale-a-bration is here!!!

Silhouettes for PP78

The Paper Players Challenge for this week is a colour challenge:  Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizazz.  Great colours!  I decided to use a new-to-me stamp set, Pocket Silhouettes, for this one to create a simple card that could be used for any occasion.  Here it is:

Super simple....here are the details:

Stamp sets:  Pocket Silhouettes

Papers:  Blushing Bride CS, Calypso Coral CS, Whisper White CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Pear Pizazz, Calypso Coral

Embellishments:  1/8" Organza Ribbon -- Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade (SAB 2012), Everyday Enchantment Brads (SAB 2012)

Bordering on Romance for TSOT 49

Once again the ladies over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday have provided a great sketch and inspiration.  I needed some today....man, this winter has been a bust so far and I'm getting really down with all this rain!  I grew up in Ontario's snow belt and there really is never enough snow in southwestern Ontario for my liking but this is ridiculous!!!  I don't think I'd ever make it on the west coast : )

Oh well, enough about the weather.  I had some frustration with my edgelits die today but after watching the training video on the Stampin' Up demonstrator website I think I've got them figured out....the key is non-permanent adhesive!  I really like the resulting effect.

Here's what I came up with today:

Bordering on Romance for TSOT 49

I used the Edgelits scallop die and matching Adorning Accents scallop embossing folder for the bottom of the card.  Then, to make the edges even, I added some Twitterpated DSP.  Here's a close-up:

Scallop Adorning Accents Edgelits die and Textured Embossing Folder

I pulled out my Blender Pens again for this one to "water-colour" the flowers and then added some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details in the centres.

Here are all the details:

Stamps:  Bordering on Romance, Pocket Silhouettes

Papers:  Blushing Bride CS, Riding Hood Red CS, Baja Breeze CS, Whisper White CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizazz

Punches:  Word Window, Decorative Label

Embellishments and Other:  Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Adorning Accents Edgelits dies and Textured Embossing Folders

Happy Stamping!

"Quilted" Birthday

A dear friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow and I want to share the card I made for her.  I wanted to try something for her that I've been meaning to do for a while....."quilting".  Here is the result.

I took little squares of Everyday Enchantment and adhered them to a scrap of paper before running it through the Big Shot using my Top Note Bigz die.  I then gave it some texture by running the quilted piece through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Embossing folder.  It's hard to see the texture on here but I really liked the result.

Here are the rest of the details:

Stamp sets:  Elementary Elegance  (SAB 2012)

Papers: Everyday Enchantment DSP  (SAB 2012), Pool Party CS, Soft Suede CS, Very Vanilla CS

Inks:  Soft Suede

Other:  Pool Party ruffled ribbon,  Curly Label punch, Modern Label punch, Top Note Bigz Die, Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder

Hello Baby for Sketch Friday Frenzy

In my blog surfing this morning I "discovered" Sketch Friday Frenzy and loved the simplicity of this week's sketch.  One of the pastors at our church and his wife welcomed their first baby yesterday and I wanted to make them a special card.  They had a little girl so I turned to Blushing Bride again for this card and the new Twitterpated DSP.

I selectively coloured the new "Packed for Baby" stamp to highlight the onesies and the little bib.  It is such a cute stamp!

For the inside I used a sentiment from "Occasions Alphabet"  and the "Packed for Baby" stamp again.

Here are all the details:

Stamps:  Packed For Baby (Occasions Mini), Occasions Alphabet, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:  Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz

Other:  Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon,  Twitterpated Designer Buttons,  Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Curly Label Punch

Happy Stamping!

More Fresh Vintage Thanks

I went to visit a good friend and fellow demonstrator tonight.  She shared some of the projects that she has been working on recently and I wanted to share this one with you.  It is very similar to a card that I posted last evening but I really like her version of it.  So thank you, CB, for the inspiration!

Isn't it pretty?!  I really like the simplicity of it.  Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Note of Thanks, Fresh Vintage (SAB 2012)

Paper:  Pool Party CS,  Poppy Parade CS, Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB 2012), Very Vanilla CS

Inks:  Soft Suede, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, Lucky Limeade

Big Shot tools:  Pennants Bigz Die, Circles #2 Bigz Die,  Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing folder.

Happy Stamping!

New Stuff for Monkey's and PP77

I have so many fun new things I had trouble choosing for this week's Monkey Challenge : )  I decided to pair the Monkey Challenge with the Paper Players Love Challenge for this week.  I broke out "new" colours....at least to me, Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red and Basic Black....new stamps, new Designer Series Paper, new Smooch Spritz, new Embossing folders and the brand new Hearts Framelits.  So much fun!

Here is the result:

Happy Valentine's Day

I have not really used Smooch Spritz before this week and I'm really pleased with the results of the Blushing Bride spritz.  I think I'm going to have to invest in some of the other shades : )  I love the shimmering effect that it leaves on the hearts.

And, believe it or not, the Word Window punch is new to me.  I took advantage of the great sales on Stampin' Up's Clearance Rack to get it.

Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Take it to Heart, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Papers:  Basic Black CS, Blushing Bride CS, Riding Hood Red CS, Whisper White CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Basic Black and Riding Hood Red

Big Shot Accessories:  Square Lattice Textured Embossing Folder, Hearts Framelits, Adorning Accents Textured Embossing Folders

Other:  Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz, Basic Black 1/8' ribbon, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch

Happy Stamping!

Fresh Vintage for SSC237

Doesn't "Fresh Vintage" seem like a bit of an oxymoron?  I got thinking about it tonight and wondered about that.  It doesn't really matter because, either way, I love the stamp set and the "matching" Everyday Enchantment papers that can be found in the upcoming Sale-a-bration catalogue.  I'm really being challenged to use colours that I wasn't particularly keen on previously, like Poppy Parade and Calypso Coral.

For tonight's post I drew on Stampin' 411's Saturday Sketch Challenge 237 sketch.  Here's is what I came up with:

Lots of "antiquing" with Soft Suede ink and lots of distressed edges in this one....again.  I'm going through a phase : )

I selectively coloured the stamp to match the Designer paper....although in retrospect I suppose I could have just used the Designer paper itself.

Although it is hard to see here, I "antiqued" the Poppy Parade strip with Soft Suede as well.

Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Fresh Vintage (SAB 2012), Three Little Words

Papers:  Everyday Enchantment DSP (SAB 2012), Calypso Coral CS, Poppy Parade CS, Soft Suede CS, Pool Party CS, Very Vanilla CS

Inks:  Soft Suede, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Peach Parfait

Accessories/Embellishments:  Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder.

Happy Stamping!

Spice Cake Owl

My sister-in-law made an adorable little owl for my son's first birthday a couple of years ago.  So, I decided to jump on the owl bandwagon and make a little "Spice Cake" for my cousin's new baby using her pattern.

Isn't he cute?!  I really like the Spice Cake Designer Fabric and am thrilled that it is carrying over from the Holiday mini.  I had fun using my Circles #2 die and the Big Shot to cut out the eyes out of felt and fabric.....perfect circles!  The only unfortunate part about this whole "adventure" is that my sewing machine decided not to work so I had to hand stitch the whole thing : )

Enjoy the day!

Fresh Vintage Thanks

I couldn't believe my eyes this afternoon when I looked out in my backyard and saw a flock of ROBINS!!!  Robins....on January 10th!  In this part of the world, robins don't usually return until sometime in March but it's been so unusually warm here that everything seems to be confused.  Craziness!

Things were a little more "normal" at my monthly Make and Take class tonight.  I had a lovely time with 3 great ladies and was even able to work on a project for February's class.  Thanks to AP, CF and JS for their opinions and advice : )

I pulled out the "Fresh Vintage" set from the Sale-a-bration catalogue for this card and used up some scraps of "Everyday Enchantment" DSP.

I'm really pleased with the result, especially the hand stitching : )  I have an old sewing box from my grandmother that I pull from every now and then and tonight I found some thread that was an exact match with the Calypso Coral card stock...very exciting, especially considering that she probably bought it over 30 years ago : )  Thanks to JS for suggesting that I poke holes with my Mat Pack first and then stitch : )

Here are the pertinent details:

Stamp Sets:  Fresh Vintage (SAB 2012), Three Little Words

Papers:  Calypso Coral CS, Very Vanilla CS, Poppy Parade CS, Pool Party CS, Everyday Enchantment DSP

Inks:  Soft Suede, Calypso Coral

Accessories/Embellishments:  Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, 1" circle punch, Mat Pack, needle and thread.

Another Sneak Peek

Here's another sneak peek from the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  I absolutely LOVE this Designer Series Paper, "Everyday Enchantment".  It is so pretty and the colour combinations can't be beat.  This is another pretty simple card with lots of sponging ink on paper to give it a bit of an aged look.  I also used the oval from the Designer Frames Embossing folders (you can earn these FREE with a $60 purchase during Sale-a-bration!).    I'll be doing this card tonight at my Make and Take class....super simple but really pretty.

Here's an inside look at the card.  I used another Sale-a-bration stamp, from the "Fresh Vintage" set,  in here to create a little bit of interest.

Here are the details for the supplies I used:

Stamp Sets:  Three Little Words, Fresh Vintage (Sale-a-bration 2012)

Papers:  Everyday Enchantment (SAB 2012), Soft Suede CS, Very Vanilla CS

Inks:  Soft Suede (for sponging all the papers),  Calypso Coral

Embellishments and Accessories:  Chantilly Lace Ribbon,  Calypso Coral Organza Ribbon (SAB 2012),  Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder.

Happy Stamping!

Masculine Birthday Card for TSoT

Just a quick post tonight....it's 12:30 and WAY past my bedtime.  I decided to use the Try Stamping on Tuesday sketch for some inspiration tonight.  I've had some requests for "masculine" birthday cards at my classes so I put this one together for tomorrow evening's class.  First the sketch:

TSOT Sketch 47

Masculine Birthday for TSOT

It's super simple to put together but I like the effect.

Stamp Sets:  Circle Circus, Best Dad Ever

Papers:  Crumb Cake CS, Pocket full of Posies DSP, Subtles (Baja Breeze) DSP, Whisper White CS

Inks:  Crumb Cake

Accessories:  None.....but lots of distressed edges.

Happy Stamping!

On a Roll

It's amazing what having a little time away from full-time childcare does for one's creativity.  My husband has been on holidays this week and has been entertaining my son which frees me up to "play"!  It's great.  Here's a card that I did today with my upcoming Make and Take in mind:

Twitterpated and Bordering on Romance

I had more fun with my new stuff today...."Bordering on Romance" set, Twitterpated DSP, the Adorning Accents Edgelits dies and Embossing folders, and more sparkles!  Need I say more?!!!  Yes, more sparkles in a bottle....red this time.  Fantastic!

Here's a close-up of the water-colouring I did with my blender pens:
Water colouring with Blender Pens
Finally, I took one of the little Twitterpated buttons and tied some Island Indigo Baker's Twine through the holes to finish off the sentiment.
Cute buttons

Here are all the details:

Stamp sets:  Bordering on Romance, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:  Baja Breeze CS, Island Indigo CS, Riding Hood Red CS, Whisper White CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizazz, Basic Black

Accessories:  Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Twitterpated buttons, Island Indigo Baker's Twine, Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon,  Adorning Accents Edgelits dies and Embossing folder.

A Fresh Start Thank You

After my "Fresh Start" baby card adventure last night I had a bunch of scraps left over that I wanted to use up this morning.  I also wanted to get a head start on "thank you" cards that I suspect I may be needing soon.  Here's what I came up with this morning....a slight variation on the sketch I used in my last post.

It is a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square card with a heart sticking off the top.  Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Baby Prints, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:  Pear Pizazz CS, Island Indigo CS, Blushing Bride CS, Whisper White CS, Riding Hood Red CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Island Indigo

Accessories:  Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Hearts Framelits

Happy Stamping!

A Fresh Start

I love using new products!  I'm especially excited about all the new things that the 2012 Occasions Mini has to offer.  When I got the catalogue in December I couldn't put it down and every page held something else to love!  So now that Christmas cards are finally over I've delved into the new stuff to create a card for my cousin's baby shower on Friday evening (so E.M. if you're reading....stop now until after Friday night!).   My cousin and I are due ONE DAY apart in March....what are the chances?!!   I'm so excited for her, as this will be her first baby.

I based her card on this week's A la Card Monkey's sketch...."A Fresh Start"....so fitting for this time of year and also for the card I needed : )  Thanks again ladies for the inspiration!

Monkey Challenge 89 Sketch

Here's my card:

Baby Prints Card

And here's a different angle of the same card:
Baby Prints...a second view

I wish I could say that I just "whipped" this card out, but in reality it went through a number of incarnations.  One of the choices I had to make was what colour to make the hand prints.  Neither of us know the gender of our baby so I decided to one of each colour.....as I finished I realised it could double as a wedding card : )

So many fun new products....Twitterpated DSP, Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz, Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon, Hearts FRAMELITS  (I LOVE these!!!!!), new embossing folders.....so great!

Hearts close-up

The other stamp I've been wanting to use is "All Packed for Baby".   I selectively coloured just the onesie from it for this card....but stayed tuned for more using the whole stamp.

Inside view
I could go on and on about this new mini....but it's time for bed : )  Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Baby Prints, All Packed for Baby, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Four Frames, Occasions Alphabet

Papers:  Basic Grey CS, Blushing Bride CS, Pear Pizazz CS, Whisper White CS, Twitterpated DSP

Inks:  Riding Hood Red, Island Indigo, Blushing Bride, Basic Grey, Pear Pizazz

Accessories:  Hearts Framelits, Adorning Accents Embossing Folders, Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon, Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz, various punches

Happy Stamping!!  More to come : )

Sale-a-bration Sneak Peek

Wow! Is it January already? It FINALLY looks like winter around here thanks to a pretty good dump of snow last evening and throughout the day today. We spent Christmas with my parents up at their place near Georgian Bay and it was the first green Christmas that I can EVER remember there.

My sister-in-law celebrated her birthday just before Christmas and I wanted to share the card I made for her. It uses all new Sale-a-bration products. I LOVE Sale-a-bration! For every $60 you spend you earn FREE product....contact me to learn more or check out http://lauragardiner.stampinup.net/ for more details.

I'm really liking the new stamp sets and designer series paper in the Sale-a-bration catalogue....some great colour combinations. I'm really looking forward to creating more this week with stuff from the new Occasions Mini as well!

Alright...enough already, here's the card:

Aren't the colours gorgeous!  I especially like the organza ribbon.  So pretty!  To dress up the inside I stamped some of the itty-bitty butterflies that are part of this stamp set in various colours.

Stayed tuned for more sneak peeks and projects for my class next week.

Happy Stamping!

Simple Rainbow Cards #2

As I was cleaning up my stamping desk and moving things around some left over DSP scraps caught my eye.  I love the combination of the colo...
